Every Day Saints and Other Stories

BOOK REVIEW

Every Day Saints and Other Stories,

Pokrov Publications

$23.00

Having just finished reading a fairly new book entitled: Every Day Saints and Other Stories, I would highly  recommend this as real good reading. It is not a typical life of saints. It is not fiction, but many different tales of Archbishops and monks during Russian Communist rule. It is a very popular   book. Having sold a million copies in less than year. It is a peer into the mysterious soul of  Russia, remarkably described by the author Archimandrite Tikhon (Shevkunov). It is an amazing value, almost 500 pages soft-covered and only $23.00. It is already in ten different languages. Published in Russia, the English has preserved much of its has retained its charm and originality.  In this book we meet very holy people and some who were less holy, and it  offers a broad look into the real world of the Church under  Communism in Russia, and post-Communism.

Elder Paisois of Mount Athos

BOOK REVIEW

ELDER PAISIOS OF MOUNT ATHOS

By Hieromonk Isaac

Published by Holy Monastery of St. Arsenios the Cappadocian

719 pages Hard-covered

$45.00
This well know saint-to-be, Fr. Paisios was born in 1937 and fell asleep in the Lord in 1998.

He ranks among the greatest and most revered elders of the Orthodox Church in the twentieth century. Dogmatically and ethically, he conveyed the consciousness of the Apostles and Holy Fathers. He struggled and suffered, and bore everything with great joy, for he was filled with Christ and His grace. He is described as resembling a garden adorned with countless flowers in bloom, radiant and colorful, a beautiful man that makes you love him without meeting him personally. This bok brings the holy Elder from between its cover right into you heart.
